European Travel Information and Authorization System (ETIAS) for Singaporean
The European Travel Information and Authorization System (ETIAS) will become mandatory for Singaporean citizens traveling to Europe in 2025:
1. When it starts
- The ETIAS will be operational in mid-2025.
2. What it is
- The ETIAS is a travel authorization system that's similar to the US ESTA. It's not a visa, but it's required for visa-free travelers.
3. Who it applies to
- The ETIAS applies to citizens of Singapore and 58 other countries and territories, including Australia, Japan, South Korea, the US, and Canada.
4. What it's for
- The ETIAS aims to improve border security while still making travel convenient for eligible citizens.
5. How to apply
- You must apply for the ETIAS before boarding a plane, train, or bus to Europe. You'll be notified within 96 hours if your application is approved, refused, or needs manual processing.
6. What it costs
- The ETIAS costs €7 (S$10) for travelers aged 18 to 70, and is free for those outside this age range.
7. What you need to apply with
- You must be a full Singaporean citizen to apply for an ETIAS. Travelers with a different status may need to apply for a full Schengen visitor visa.
