• Ice Smelt Fishing

  Wakasagi (Japanese smelt) can be found in large shoals under frozen lakes. You can experience ice fishing by piercing through thick ice!

• Reindeer Farm (includes snow sledding)

  Experience the unique reindeer sledding in Wakkanai! You will be whisked across sparkling snow on your very own reindeer sled. It will be like a scene out of one of those winter fairy tales.

• Cape Soya

  Cape Sōya is the northernmost point of the island of Hokkaido, and therefore, Japan. If the weather is good, you can see Sakhalin, a Russian island once part of Japan.

• Cape Nosappu (Lighthouse and Dolphin Statue)

  Cape Nosappu stands at the entrance to East Hokkaido where the waters of the Pacific meet the Okhotsk Sea.

  Visit the oldest Lighthouse in Hokkaido, built in 1872, as well as the Dolphin Statue.

• Okhotsk Tokkari Centre

  Located outdoors in Okhotsk, it is the only facility in Japan that only protects and raises seals. From protecting 4 seals in 1987, till now have more than 20 seals.

• Abashiri Ice Breaking Cruise

  One of the best and easiest ways to see the drift ice is from the Aurora Sightseeing Boats, which depart from Abashiri Port.

  The boat ride takes about an hour and run several times a day during the ryuhyo season and whiteness of the ice that spreads South around the Amur river in midwinter.

  *Note: Should weatherconditions do not permit for the cruise, will be replaced by Abashiri Prison Museum and the Drift Ice Museum.

• Kitami Fox Farm

  The Kitakitsune Farm, also known as Hokkaido Fox Village was built in 1983, is located next to Onneyu Onsen. About cuddly ezo red foxes and more than 100 free-range northern foxes live and play here.

  Due to its proximity to the hot spring town, it is a popular spot with many tourists throughout the year.

• Akan Crane Center

  Focuses on red-crowned cranes for research and protection purposes. It is also the habitat of the largest number of red-crowned cranes in the world.

  From Nov to Mar, the adjacent feeding ground can attract more than 300 red-crowned cranes a day, and visitors can enjoy the posture of red-crowned cranes flying in the snow field.  

• Bihoro Pass Observatory

  From the observatory, you can enjoy a panoramic view of Lake Kussharo, Japan's largest caldera lake, the smoking Io-yama mountain, and the distant peaks of the Shiretoko mountain range and Taisetsu.

• Ainu Village

  The aboriginals of Hokkaido are mainly the Ainu tribe. Check out this unique village featuring aboriginal traditional woodcrafts and arts!

  At the festivalyou will see a varietyof interesting ice sculptures such as an ice look out, an ice castle,ice tunnels and an ice slide.

• Shirogane Blue Pond & ShirahigeFalls (night illumination)

  Located in the town of Biei, this bright blue pond has many different faces and changes its appearance dependingon the season.

  During winter it is lit up at night (from 5pm to 9pm), you can enjoy the romantic sceneryof the starry night sky framed by the illuminated trees and frozenpond.

  Odori Park

  Odori Park, is a park located in the heart of Sapporo, Ōdōri means "large street" in Japanese.

  Built in 1957, is a 147.2m high TV tower with an observation deck at a height of 90.38m. 

  Tokeidai Clock Tower (Drive Pass)

  Built in 1878 as a theatrical hall of the Sapporo Agricultural School, present day Hokkaido University.

• Tanukikoji Shopping Street 

  Opened in 1873, is one of the oldest shopping streets with around 200 stores including restaurants, bars and hotels.
