Step-by-step Instructions from SG to Korea

Before Departure to Korea

Check if visa is required from Embassy of Korea in Singapore

  • Singapore passport holders, to apply for K-ETA

Frequently Asked Questions

Entry Into Korea

To enter South Korea quarantine-free, short-term visitors must be fully vaccinated and meet the following requirements:

  • No travel history outside of Singapore or South Korea for the past 14 days
  • Hold a digitally certifiable vaccination certificate showing you have been fully vaccinated against Covid-19 with any vaccine in the World Health Organisation (WHO) Emergency Use List
  • Your vaccination certificate must be in English and issued by Singapore or South Korea, Foreign vaccination records ingested in Singapore's National Immunisation Registry (NIR) will not be accepted.
  • The final dose of your vaccine must be completed at least 14 days prior to arrival in Singapore or South Korea.

Unvaccinated children aged below 6 (as of date of arrival) are also exempted from quarantine upon arrival if they are accompanied by an eligible vaccinated adult.

In line with South Korean regulations, individuals who have recovered from Covid-19 must be fully vaccinated in accordance with WHO-EUL approved vaccines and produce a negative PCR test result issued within 72 hours of departure to enter quarantine free.

  • Take a pre-departure Covid-19 Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) test within 72 hours prior to departure and obtain a negative test result (a physical copy is mandatory). Children aged below 6 (as of date of arrival) are exempted.
  • Book an on-arrival Covid-19 PCR test prior to the departure of your flight from Singapore.
  • Purchase mandatory travel insurance with a minimum coverage of 30 million won (approximately S$34,000) for Covid-19 related medical treatment and hospitalisation costs. You must also carry a physical copy of your insurance policy for your trip.
  • Obtain a Korea Electronic Travel Authorization (K-ETA) at least 24 hours prior to flight departure for Singaporeans and citizens from visa-exemption countries.

Travellers must have these documents on hand when arriving in South Korea:

  • Passport with at least six (6) months validity.
  • Valid APEC card / K-ETA / Visa (if applicable).
  • Vaccination certificate with QR code obtained from Notarise.
  • Pre-departure Covid-19 test result certificate issued within 72 hours of departure.
  • On arrival Covid-19 test booking confirmation.
  • Physical copy of travel insurance with minimum 30 million won (approximately S$34,000) for Covid-19 related medical / treatment expenses and hospitalisation cost.

Proof of Vaccination:

  • QR Code scanner for Singapore Vaccination Certificate confirmation application when arriving in Korea is in preparation
  • Singapore phone applications that can be used during arrival process to be announced early November 2021
  • Prepare the QR Code from the Singapore website www.verify.gov.sg upon arrival at Incheon International Airport - For a smooth process, please prepare the QR code in advance after arrival
  • If the traveller does not have a smart phone or providing a digital Vaccination Certificate is difficult, only than the paper Vaccination (including QR code) Certificate is planned to be accepted

Questions

  • A person who is fully vaccinated in Singapore with WHO Emergency Use Listing (EUL) COVID-19 vaccines for at least two (2) weeks before arrival in Korea and has the vaccination certificate with QR code obtained from Notarise
  • The traveller must remain in Singapore or Korea for at least 14 days consecutively prior to travel.
  • Accompanying children below the age of 6 who are unvaccinated are eligible to travel to Korea via VTL and be exempted from quarantine. Unvaccinated children age 6 years and above may enter Korea but would be subjected to quarantine for 10 days.
  • The traveller must take a direct flight operated by Korean Air, Asiana Airlines, Singapore Airlines or Scoot from Singapore to Kore

Note:

  • Travellers who had their overseas vaccination records registered in Singapore's National Immunisation Registry (NIR) are not eligible for VTL arrangements.
  • Multiple entry visas issued prior to 05 April 2020 are all invalidated
  • APEC card holders may enter Korea without Visa or K-ETA
  • If you have K-ETA, you do need a visa
  • Singapore passport holders will be able to apply for K-ETA from 08 November 2021

Visa
  • Singaporeans are eligible for K-ETA application (eligibility depends on your nationality, not country of residence or port of departure)
  • K-ETA only covers activities allowed under C-3 visa such as tourism, business meetings, discussions, conferences, short-term study with stay below 90 days, family visit...etc. If your purpose of visit is not covered under K-ETA or your nationality is not eligible for K-ETA, please apply for an appropriate visa
  • Application and payment
  • Apply for a visa if your nationality is not eligible for K-ETA or your purpose of visit is not covered by K-ETA.
  • Travellers must purchase travel insurance with a minimum coverage of 30 million won (approximately S$34,000) for COVID-19 related medical / treatment expenses and hospitalisation cost.
  • The traveller must carry a physical copy of the insurance policy when travelling to Korea.
When What to Do?
Pre-Departure
  • Traveller must take a Covid-19 PCR test before departure at a MOH-approved provider
  • The test result must be issued within 72 hours of departure (infants and children under the age of 6 (as of entry date) are exempted
Upon arrival
  • Take a Covid-19 PCR test on arrival at Incheon Airport
  • Traveller is required to pre-book the test at https://safe2gopass.com/ prior to departure to Korea and carry a copy of the confirmed booking when entering Korea.
  • After taking the test, the traveller may proceed to his / her accommodation in Korea using taxi, private vehicle, designated bus or train for international travellers to isolate and wait for the result.
  • Traveller is not allowed to take domestic flights until he / she receives the negative result for the on-arrival PCR test.
On the 6th / 7th day of arrival
  • If the traveller will stay in Korea for 8 days or more, he / she is required to take a COVID-19 test at a designated hospital / clinic on the 6th / 7th day of arrival.
  • Please refer to the attachment for the list of medical institutions that provide PCR testing. Traveller is advised to contact the medical institution directly to check on availability.
  • After taking the test, the traveller is not required to isolate and may carry on with his / her activities in Korea.
  • Passport with at least 6 months validity.
  • Valid APEC card / K-ETA / Visa (if applicable).
  • Vaccination certificate with QR code obtained from Notarise.
  • Pre-departure Covid-19 test result certificate issued within 72 hours of departure.

All travellers, including passengers who are fully vaccinated, must have a printed medical certificate with a negative Covid-19 PCR test result issued within 3 days before departure from the first embarkation point to enter South Korea.

For example, if the departure time is 2355 hours on 24 February 2021 (local time), the valid negative Covid-19 PCR test certificate must be issued from 21 February 2021 0000 hours (local time) onwards. In addition:

  • Children below the age of 6 as of the date of entry are exempted from the pre-departure testing requirements, provided all accompanying parties have submitted a negative Covid-19 PCR certificate).
  • The Covid-19 PCR test certificate must be in English or Korean or be accompanied by a certified English or Korean translation. It must also state the following:
    • passenger's full name, date of birth and passport number.
    • negative test result.
    • test date; and
    • name of the issuing laboratory or hospital.
  • A completed Health Declaration Form and a Special Quarantine Declaration Form must be presented to the quarantine desk upon arrival.
  • Passengers arriving from Singapore is eligible for visa-free travel to the Republic of Korea but is required to apply for a Korea Electronic Travel Authorisation (K-ETA) at least 24 hours before departure.
  • Passengers will need to complete below 4 documents that are required to enter Korea on board.
    • Health Declaration
    • Travel Record Declaration
    • Arrival Card
    • Customs Traveller Declaration

Travelers require to take and receive a negative PCR COVID-19 Test or Antigen Rapid Test result within 48 hours before flight

A fine of up to 100,000 won will be imposed for not wearing masks in public facilities such as:

  • Failure to wear a mask
  • Wearing one but not covering the mouth and nose completely
  • Failure to wear an acceptable type of mask

Accepted Types of Masks are:

  • KF94
  • KF80
  • Anti-droplet masks
  • Surgical masks
  • Cloth masks
  • Disposable masks

The mandatory wearing of masks applied differently depending on the social distancing stage between facilities and locations at risk of spreading the infectious diseases.
